Conditions We Specialise In

Physical Conditions & Sensory Impairments We Support

Every condition presents differently. Our care plans are built around the person — not the diagnosis.

Spinal Cord Injury

Support for individuals with cervical, thoracic or lumbar spinal injuries — including paraplegia and tetraplegia. Expert care including ventilator support, catheter care and pressure area management.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

MS is a progressive neurological condition with significant variability. Our care plans accommodate the fluctuating nature — providing greater support during relapses and stepping back as function recovers.

Cerebral Palsy

Specialist support for adults with cerebral palsy — including those with associated communication difficulties, feeding support needs and complex postural care requirements.

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

Care and rehabilitation support for adults who have sustained a brain injury through accident, stroke, infection or hypoxia. ABI affects cognitive, physical and emotional function.

Stroke Recovery

Supporting individuals during recovery following a stroke — including assistance with affected activities, communication support and coordination with therapy teams.

Progressive Neurological Conditions

Support for adults with Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease (MND), Huntington's disease and similar diagnoses — with care plans that evolve as needs increase.

Visual Impairment

Support for adults with partial or total loss of vision — including orientation and mobility support, assistance with daily living tasks and liaison with sensory support services.

Hearing Impairment & Deafblindness

Support for adults with hearing loss and those who are deafblind — using BSL awareness, tactile signing, deafblind manual, written communication and environmental adaptations.

Our Approach

Enabling Maximum Independence

Our goal is to enable every person to be as independent as possible — physically, socially and in daily decision-making.

1

Assessment of Abilities

We assess what the individual can do independently, with minor support or with specialist equipment — building care around enabling independence.

2

Specialist Care Plan

Bespoke care plan in consultation with the individual, family and therapists — incorporating exercise, postural care and daily living support.

3

Right Care Workers

We match workers with specific skills, moving and handling competencies and the right personality for a positive, empowering relationship.

4

Continuous Review

Physical conditions change. We review regularly, adapt as needs evolve and maintain close liaison with all professionals involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Physical Disability Care

Yes. All workers who support individuals requiring hoist transfers receive comprehensive practical training covering ceiling track hoists, mobile hoists, standing aids and transfer boards. Training is updated regularly and signed off by a competent trainer before independent use.

We can support ventilator-dependent individuals where our workers have received appropriate training and clinical oversight is in place from relevant NHS teams. We discuss the full scope during assessment and are transparent about what we can safely manage.

We actively welcome collaboration with the full MDT. We incorporate prescribed exercise programmes, positioning regimes and therapy strategies into the daily care routine and communicate any concerns or changes promptly to the relevant therapist.

Adaptations are typically assessed by an OT working with the local authority or NHS. SGE Care works with the individual and their OT to design a care package that works within the home environment and can advise on what to request.

Yes. We design care packages to be adaptable over time. For progressive conditions we build in regular review points, maintain close contact with clinical teams and increase support as the condition progresses — maintaining continuity of care workers wherever possible.
