Our Story

Founded to Make a Genuine Difference

SGE Care & Recruitment was established with a clear vision — to create a care organisation that genuinely places the rights, wellbeing and choices of every service user at its heart. We recognised that too many people with complex needs were receiving care that was adequate but not exceptional, and we set out to change that from our base in Rainham, Essex.

From that foundation, we have grown into a trusted, CQC-registered provider delivering supported living and domiciliary care across Essex and beyond. Our diverse and skilled team brings a breadth of experience, cultural understanding and professional expertise that enables us to support people from all walks of life with genuine sensitivity and compassion.

We work closely with Local Authorities, NHS teams, social workers and families to design care packages that are truly bespoke — built around the individual, not around the system. Every person who comes to SGE Care receives a thorough assessment, a personalised care plan and a dedicated key worker who knows them well. Our belief is simple: care done well is transformative.

What We Stand For

Our Mission, Vision & Values

Our Mission

Our mission at SGE Care is to provide high-quality care, assistance and support that genuinely improves the quality of life of every person we work with. We deliver our services within safe, supportive and well-managed environments — whether in supported living accommodation or in the comfort of someone's own home — in ways that always respect individual needs, preferences and dignity.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be recognised as Essex's most trusted and person-centred care provider — an organisation where service users feel genuinely supported, families feel fully reassured and care workers feel valued, respected and proud of the work they do. We are committed to continuous improvement and to raising the standard of what exceptional care looks like.

Dignity

We treat every person with the respect and dignity they deserve, regardless of background, condition or circumstance.

Safety

The safety and wellbeing of every service user is our highest priority — in every decision, every visit and every interaction.

Independence

We believe in supporting people to live as independently as possible, promoting choice, control and confidence in daily life.

Compassion

Our team leads with empathy and genuine care — understanding that behind every care plan is a real person with their own story.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to the highest standards — in training, communication, practice and the outcomes we achieve.

Inclusion

We celebrate diversity. Our team’s breadth of backgrounds enables us to deliver culturally sensitive, truly inclusive care.

How We Work

A Genuinely Person-Centred Approach

Starting With Listening

No two people are the same, and our care always starts with listening. Every new enquiry to SGE Care begins with a thorough, no-obligation assessment conducted by an experienced member of our team — in person, by telephone or via video call. We take time to understand not just the clinical or support needs, but also the individual's routines, preferences, life history, cultural background and personal goals.

From this assessment, we build a detailed, personalised care plan. This is not a static document — it is a living record, reviewed regularly, updated as needs evolve and shared openly with the individual, their family and all relevant professionals involved in their care.

The Right People, Every Time

Consistency is one of the most important factors in excellent care — having the same faces, familiar voices and the same routines. At SGE Care, we work hard to match the right care workers to each person, taking into account not just skills and experience but also personality, communication style and cultural fit.

All staff undergo rigorous pre-employment checks including enhanced DBS clearance, reference verification and right-to-work checks. They complete comprehensive induction training and receive ongoing specialist development in: dementia care, autism awareness, positive behaviour support, mental health, medication management, safeguarding, moving and handling, and MCA/DoLS.

Training & Development

Skilled, Trained and Supported at Every Level

At SGE Care, we invest significantly in the training and professional development of our entire workforce. We believe that the quality of care delivered is directly linked to the quality and confidence of those delivering it — and we hold our team to the highest standards at all times.

All care workers complete a comprehensive induction programme before working independently with any service user. This covers all fifteen Care Certificate standards and is supplemented by specialist, role-specific training tailored to the conditions and needs of the people we support. Training is not a one-off event — it is an ongoing commitment, with regular refresher sessions, supervision meetings and annual appraisals for all staff.
